Kanji Tratti
Learn kanji stroke order by tracing
Kanji Tratti helps you learn the stroke order of Japanese kanji, one stroke at a time. The app starts with the 1,026 kanji taught in Japanese elementary schools.
No account needed. No ads.
How to practice
At the top of the menu, choose how you want to practice.
- Watch: see the model kanji drawn one stroke at a time, and learn the order
- Trace: trace each stroke with your finger. If the order, direction or shape is wrong, the app shows what was off, and you redo just that stroke
Then choose a set by school grade. Each round has 10 kanji. No kanji repeats until you have seen every kanji in the set (counted separately for Watch and Trace). Kanji you did not finish come first in the next round.
Each kanji shows its readings in kana and in romaji, its English meanings and its stroke count. The kanji are drawn in Japanese style, whatever language your device uses.
The screens are in English, or in Japanese when your device is set to Japanese.

FAQ
Q. Can I use the app offline?
A. Yes. The stroke order data is built into the app. You only need an internet connection to buy or restore the purchase.
Q. Does the app save my personal data or the lines I draw?
A. No. The app does not save your name or any other personal data, or the lines you draw. It only saves your purchase and your practice progress (which kanji have already appeared) on your device, and never sends them to the developer. See the Privacy Policy for details.
