Overview
Kanji Tratti (the "App") is an app for practicing the stroke order of Japanese kanji. This policy explains the information the App handles. The App is provided by Netplan Matsuyama Ltd. (the "Developer").
The App does not collect personal data from users. There is no account registration, and the App contains no advertising or usage analytics.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect the following information (the Developer never receives or sees it):
- Information that identifies you, such as your name, age, address or email address
- Location
- Device identifiers (including advertising IDs)
- The lines you draw in "Trace"
- Photos, audio or contacts
- Cookies or other tracking information
2. Information Stored on Your Device
2.1 What Is Stored
The App stores only the following information on your device.
| Information | Purpose | Where |
|---|---|---|
| IDs of purchased items (for example, that the "Elementary Set" has been purchased) | To let you use what you bought even when the store cannot be reached | On your device (the App's private storage) |
| Practice progress (for each grade and practice mode, the order of the kanji that have not appeared yet) | To avoid repeating a kanji until every kanji in the set has appeared | On your device (the App's private storage) |
- The App does not send this information to the Developer's servers or to any third party. The Developer cannot see it
- The practice progress contains no information that identifies a child, such as a name
- Deleting the App deletes this information from your device. Your purchase stays in your store account, so you can restore it after reinstalling the App
2.2 Device Backups
If you use your device's backup feature, such as iCloud Backup (iOS) or Android backup, the information in 2.1 may be included in the backup. Backups are stored by Apple or Google in your own Apple Account or Google Account. The Developer cannot see their contents.
2.3 Planned Features
We plan to add the following features in future versions.
- Practice records: for each kanji, how many times it was practiced, how many mistakes were made, and whether it was written without mistakes
- Keeping practice records after the App is deleted and reinstalled
These records will also be stored only on your device and in your own iCloud (iOS) or Google Account (Android) storage. They will not be sent to the Developer's servers, and the Developer will not be able to see them. When we add these features, we will update this policy to describe what is stored and where.
3. Network Communication
The stroke order data is built into the App, so the App does not communicate over the network while you practice.
The App communicates only with the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to process and restore in-app purchases. It does not communicate with the Developer's servers.
Device backups (2.2) are made by the operating system, not by the App.
4. In-App Purchases
Purchases of the "Elementary Set" (an in-app purchase) are made through the App Store or Google Play. Payment information, such as credit card numbers, is handled by Apple or Google, and the App does not receive it.
- iOS: In App Store Connect, the Developer can see only aggregated sales information. It cannot see information that identifies buyers
- Android: Because of how Google Play works, the Developer may be able to see buyers' email addresses and similar information in Google Play Console to handle refunds and orders. The Developer uses this information only to respond to orders
The privacy policies of Apple and Google also apply to purchases.
5. Sharing with Third Parties
Because the App does not collect information, there is no information to share with third parties.
6. Use by Children (For Parents)
The App is made for adults and also for elementary school children. When a child uses the App, we recommend that parents check the following.
- The App does not collect children's personal data
- The App contains no advertising
- In-app purchases happen only when confirmed on the store's purchase screen. To prevent children from buying without permission, we recommend "Ask to Buy" (Family Sharing) or Screen Time on iPhone and iPad, and the "Require authentication for purchases" setting in Google Play on Android
- "About this app" shows the URLs of the sources of the stroke order data (KanjiVG) and the kanji meanings (KANJIDIC2) as text. Tapping them does not open a website
7. Changes to This Policy
When we change this policy, we will update this page and reflect the change in the "Last updated" date and the "Policy Version History" below. For major changes, such as collecting more information, we will also announce them in the App's update notes.
